Health surveillance is the monitoring of a person’s health for the purpose of identifying changes in the person’s health status resulting from exposure to a hazardous substance.
Employers are required to appoint a registered medical practitioner to supervise health surveillance of employees at the workplace where there is a risk of adverse health effects from exposure to hazardous substances.
Mt Hawthorn Medical Centre is prepared to offered the required Appointed Medical Practitioner (AMP) who is a Consultant Occupational and Environmental Physician with the relevant knowledge and experience of health surveillance in order to plan, implement and evaluate a health surveillance program and lead our team of medical practitioners to conduct the appropriate medical examinations and tests for the hazardous substances in question.
Health surveillance programs are a requirement for workers exposed to the following substances:
- Arsenic (inorganic)
- Chromium (inorganic)
- Crystalline Silica
- Lead (inorganic)
- Mercury (inorganic)
- Vinyl chloride
- Organophosphates pesticides
- Pentachlorophenol (PCP)
- Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH)
- 4,4’-Methylene bis (2-chloroaniline) (MOCA)
